Oh my goodness, I forgot all about it. I had to get up at 4:30 a.m. for work. I never get up that early. So my mind was'nt all there. I did slow down alot today. I dont think I can do it just cold turkey. can you tell me alittle bit about what you are useing and I'll go tallk to my doctor. God Bless you and I'm praying for you!( us) Gods Peace, Kelly Kelly, I can relate to getting up that early and being totally disoriented. I am using Wellbutrin. It has the same ingredient as Zyban and many doctors prescribe it instead of Zyban because a lot of medical insurances do not pay for Zyban but will pay for Wellbutrin since it also has an antidepressant in it. I take it for 8-10 days before my quit date that I set and cut down in that 8-10 day period. I was smoking 2+ packs per day and smoked less than 1 pack today. So the cut down is going well. I have tried to change my habits as to when I would light up, such as I did not take them with me when I had to drive some where since I always lit up when I got in the car. (To think that cars actually start without a cigarette lit in the car!!!!!) Good luck and prayers, Ann

They used it for depression, and found that many of the people using it quit smoking, so they started marketing it just to quit smoking. You're right, the difference is Wellbutrin is a depression drug, so insurance pays for it, while Zyban (though exactly the same thing), is only prescibed to quit smoking. The only difference is the name.

I used to smoke for almost 3 years. I quit March 28th 2002. What worked really well with me was to have a quitting smoking buddy. We would support each other in times of weakness and hold each other accountable. I quit cold turkey and have not gone back since. Once you quit you'll start to smell things differently. Food smells better and cigarette smoke smells tangy, it's pretty gross really. Plus you won't have that yellow stain on your fingers and you won't smell gross like people do right after they've had a cigarette (I know, I didn't think I did either when I smoked but you do smell disgusting after you've had one and everyone can tell). I hope the Zyban works for you. But I'm a strong believer that people won't be able to quit smoking unless they actually want to quit. So make sure you have good reasons why you want to quit and people to back you up. Keep us updated. And I'll pray for you. Sincerely, Snotty ;D Hello all, I would like to ask all of you to pray with me and ask Jesus to give the strength and willpower to quit smoking. I have smoked for almost 30 years and starting Monday am going to take Zyban to quit smoking. Your prayers in asking Jesus to help me have the willpower would be greatly appreciated. Thank you and God bless you all, Ann

Besides the usual reasons of smell, taste and general unhealthiness of smoking I have a brand new grandson that I do not want to make sick with secondhand smoke or to set a bad example for him. I am determined to quit this time and have already done better in the beginning than I thought that I would. The encouragement of those on this board has been amazing and prayer has made a huge difference this time too. Bless you all, Ann

One other thing I thought of, I know they now make a nicotine free cigarette. Smoking those would most likely lower your dependency on nicotine which could very well help you quit more easily. I don't remember the brand's name though. Sincerely, Snotty ;D

Way to go You two, . Kelly are you going to use the the patch or Zyban? God Bless ya and hang in there, donna I'm going to try the Zyban, I've tryed the patch and it didnt work. It make me really sick last time, thats why the doctor wants me in for a full check up befor he gives me something.Im 35 years old and I started smoking when I was 16. I know it's going to be hard but I want this. I dont smoke in my house or car so I think I'll be ok with that part but after my morning coffee and after food is when it's the hardest! But with Gods Help and the help from my friends I know I can do it. My dad will be a big part in my stoping. I see him everyday because I work for my dad and he doesnt smoke and always has great words for me when I try to stop. He understands because he use to smoke years ago so he's a big help. God Bless, Gods Love, Kelly
