Hello all,
I would like to ask all of you to pray with me and ask Jesus to give the strength and willpower to quit smoking. I have smoked for almost 30 years and starting Monday am going to take Zyban to quit smoking. Your prayers in asking Jesus to help me have the willpower would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you and God bless you all, Ann

Gods Love, Gods Peace, Kelly Kelly, Thank you soooo much. I know that I can do it with prayers and the help of Jesus. I have tried before but am determined to do it this time. I see my poor aunt suffereing from emphysema and know that I do not want to go through that. She gets winded so easily and it frustrates her so. I am very fond of the picture in my signature, also. It comforts me so much when I miss those loves ones that I have lost. I have a plaque of it hanging in my bedroom and I keep prayer cards on hand in a pocket in my bible cover. They have them at the Christian book store here. I know that your brother is in Jesus' arms as we speak (type). Many people have commented on the picture and I have even mailed them to people from the messageboards that can not get them where they live. You can download the picture on : www.angel-images.bigstep.com/generic.html;$sessionid$UP0QIIAAAAAFHTZENUFETIWPERWRJPX0?pid=3Thank you again, Kelly, I will keep you posted on my progress. your encouragement is more appreciated than you know. Bless you and yours, Ann

Hello Flukehouse and HomeAtLast, Did you two get to start today? I pray that you are able to accomplish your mission. I have smoked for 14 yrs. and quit this past Thursday. I am using the patches. They had worked out the best for me when I tried to quit before. The patches worked up to their end of the bargain but I didn't. So here i am, trying it again. The one thing that I realized I messed up last time was that I didn't pray enough. This time, every time the wrong thought crosses my mind I stop and pray. So far, so good! I love the phrase - Let Go and Let God! My prayers are with you both and please let me know how you are doing,
God Speed, Donna

I will definitely take your advice and I am convinced that it can only be done with prayer. I have begun the cut down phase and started the Zyban. I will definitely stop and pray when I get the urge to light up. I think I will be okay until my husband gets home from work. He is a smoker and the other times that I have tried to quit, it was hard with him smoking around me. I am determined this time to do it. The encouragement and prayers of you all will make the difference this time, I am sure. Bless you, Ann

He did quit once and that was with the zyban. He said that it worked very well. The problem he had though was that he didn't actually want to quit, he was doing it because I was. This time with me quiting he has moved his smoking completely outside. One major tip though, DON'T EVER TRY TO QUIT AT THE SAME TIME! We did this once and every time we would walk out of the house our kids would lock us out. It drove them crazy. I figured out last night why all of my other attempts had failed and this time seemed so easy. I had always prayed for God to help me through it, to make me strong and to PLEASE take away the cravings. It never happened and I always started back. I had lost all faith in myself to be able to stop. This time I did it different. This time I turned it completely over to God and left it all up to him. In 5 days I have had 1 craving. The real test is going to be this weekend and the next when we go spend time with my in-laws before we move. If I can make it through that without starting back, I can make it through anything. Please keep me in your prayers that I will allow God to get me through this and not let my emotions take back over. Your in my prayers, Let Go and Let God! Donna

My prayers are with you guys. I'm not gonna try to quit again after I go to the Bahamas. The last time I tried, I decided to eat for consolation. Bad idea.
The Zyban does work very well. I almost made it with it. That was the closest I ever came to being smoke free.
I think Citizen is still holding that over my head.

The habit is so hard to break. You guys(gals) encouragement is so great!!!! You will never know how much I appreciate it. A couple of times today when I felt the urge to smoke I got onto this thread and reread them. That really helped, too!!!!
Hopefully by November I will have it all behind me. My husband works for a Tobacco Outlet Plus store and the company sends all of the managers and significant others somewhere every year. This year is Jamaica and of course they all smoke. They will be a tribulation for me. Will probably be back with a prayer request for strength for that trip!!!!
Bless you all always,
Ann
