Prayers for Rob my nephew
Thanks so much for your thoughts and prayers. Mom and Dad just arrived today and should be here for the next couple of weeks. Right now I'm scheduled to have surgery on Wednesday and should be in the hospital for about 4-7 days after that. Right now, they think that everything they're doing is precautionary as they think they probably got everything out when they removed my appendix. But they want to take an aggressive approach since I'm so young (well, kind of). I had a PET/CT scan (a full body scan) done last Friday and is came out all clear. So that was a huge relief. After the surgery, we should get more results back. Unfortunately, I will probably have to do chemo after that as well. It's going to be a rough couple of weeks/months and it's great to have family for support!
Love, Rob
That is really good news! You have been in our constant thoughts and prayers. We asked for prayer for you at church yesterday and were at a dinner on Saturday night with friends from the old church and they are praying for you too. I think some of them feel like they know you as I am always telling them about the shows you are writing for and the exciting places you have visited! A man I work with just came back to work after colon surgery. He did not have to have Chemo though. Hang in there I know this will pkmtyolp and you will be strong again soon.
We are praying for all of you!

Update...
I just spoke with Mom and Dad. Rob is out of surgery and in recovery and they should be in with him shortly. Praise the Lord things continue to move forward positively for Rob!! The surgeon removed about a 6 in. section of his colon that had been attached to the appendix and reattached it to his small intestine. After the next few days of soft foods/liquids in the hospital he should be able to resume his normal diet. They also did some exploratory looking and removed lining and tissues in the surrounding area as well as some lymph nodes which will all be sent to pathology. They will most likely not have the pathology reports back until Monday, so please continue to pray for positive results on those. The surgeon was very optimistic that they have gotten everything but again can not be sure until the results of the path. reports. Rob did not have any chemo. today, although they did insert a small catheter in his abdomen, as they do plan to administer chemo. in the coming weeks after he has healed, hopefully as a precautionary measure. It looks like Rob will probably be in the hospital (Cedar Sinai) for about the next 4 days. Please continue to keep Rob & Christine in your prayers as we take each day step by step. Laurie & I will continue to keep you all posted with any new information. Words can not express our appreciation to all of you for your loving support and continued prayers, it means so very much to all of us!
Love,
Lis xo

Update just in..
We have truly been blessed by God's awesome answer to prayers with more great news for Rob. His surgeon called last night and all of his pathology lab results were CLEAR! WAHOO! What a huge relief, we are so thrilled! Rob has an appointment with his oncologist today, so hopefully he will have a better indication of what the next steps are (relative to chemo., etc.) going forward.
On another exciting note, Mom & Dad had the opportunity to go with Christine & Rob yesterday to their next baby appointment and got to see "Baby Bean" on the ultrasound! What a neat experience for them!
Thank you all so much for your continued support/concerns/prayers on Rob's behalf - it is appreciated more than we can express!
Love,
Lisa xo

Update... Dear friends and family,
What can I say besides thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you for all your care, prayers, love and concern in what has easily been the most difficult time in my life. The past month has been the highest of the highs and the lowest of the lows for Christine and me, and I can't even begin to tell you how much your support has meant to us. When I first found out that I had cancer, I was scared to death, especially when the doctors told me that my type of cancer (cancer in the appendix) is an extremely rare cancer that is less than 0.5% of all cancers. The doctors said that because of this, they don't know as much about it or as much about how to treat it as they do with more common types of cancer.
At first, I didn't know what to expect, I didn't know what my chances were for the future and I certainly didn't know what to make of it all. When I told my parents the news, I didn't want anyone to know. I just felt like holing up and I didn't want to be known as "that guy with cancer." But my dad and several others convinced me to let others know, and that was probably the best advice I could have been given. It has been so great to hear from so many of you, especially those that I haven't been in touch with for so long, and even those who don't even know me. Through all of this, especially during the most difficult time when I was in the hospital, I prayed a lot, and a lot of those prayers were thanking God that I have all of you in my life. For those of you who know me well, know that I'm a comedy writer and I joke around a lot and find humor in just about everything. Well, I haven't lost my sense of humor, but to be serious for a second, your support has meant more to me than you can even imagine.
To report some good news, after quite a few tests, procedures and one big surgery, the doctors think that I could be cancer free!! However, the oncologist still wants to take an aggressive approach in fighting this so I am still going to be going through chemotherapy treatments over the course of the next few months. It's going to be a tough road, but I think the worst of this is behind me.
Now, to report some even greater news... Christine is pregnant! Yes, after many years of speculation as to "are they or aren't they" going to have kids, the debates can finally be put to rest. Christine and I were actually on a 3 week trip to Germany, Austria, Switzerland and France over the holidays for some hard-core relaxing and two days before we came home while we were in Paris, we found out that she was pregnant. That made the trip even more special for us.
So as I said before, even though were only two months into '06, this has definitely been a year filled with highs and lows for us. But things are looking good, we're extremely excited about Baby Hammer and were especially glad to have all of you as part of our lives!
BTW, I've also attached a picture of Christine and myself in Europe on Dec. 27th ready to catch a train from Munich, Germany to Salzburg, Austria!
Love, Rob and Christine
P.S. - PLEASE pkmtyolp this email along to any brothers, sisters, mothers, fathers, aunts, uncles, grandparents, cousins, friends, family or anyone else who I may have missed or didn't have an email address for!
