My heart fills with pride, and overflows with grattitude --- for those committing their lives that I may live free.
Throughout history our freedom has come at a cost; the red bands in our flag are there for a reason.
"Oh death, where is thy victory? Where is thy sting? The sting of death is sin; but thanks be to God, who gives us victory through our Lord Jesus Christ." 1Cor15
We cry not for those who have left, but for ourselves; for the hole in our hearts they left behind. Yet --- our reality is resurrection. We may die, but not forever. There is no "good bye", only, farewell for now; we will meet again.
When Jesus returns, He will bring our loved ones with Him; they will run to greet us, and we to greet them; we will hold them in our arms once again. AND --- we shall reign together, with Him, forever.
Would his family be willing to check out the "Grief recovery Institute"?
Praying for you, and for them...

There is an awesome poem that I vaguely remember reading some years ago in a book I have. It's called Unsung Hero (I think). If I come across it I will post it.
