I think the quality dived around book 10, give or take. Indwelling was my favorite, but they just haven't been as good since then. And Glorious Appearing...just seems to have so much filler to stretch it out. He could easily have combined this with the proposed #14 sequel and come up with a much better book.
I hope the prequel will be better. At least he will have more latitude instead of trying to get 400 pages out of just a 24 hour period.
Honestly, Glorious Appearing is the worst yet. Hard to get motivated to read it because it just DRAGS so darn terribly! I assume the sequel book #14 will be just as bad.

I thought the GA was a great read as most of the books of the series - some were slower than others, but all in all - a great series <><

Quality of the books started dropping after the second, and was dead and buried after the fourth. The series just collapsed under its own weight.

I think Glorious Appearing is pretty good, better than anything from book 6 onwards (I have read books 1 to 4 and of course 12, and skimmed through books 5 to 11). Books 6 to 11 were far too long and cluttered with too many unnecessary materials (in particular, I admit The Remnant is quite boring). I would cut the slacks in books 6, 7, and 8 into 2 books and 9, 10, and 11 into another 2. That makes the whole series with 10 books rather than 12.
Books 1 and 2 were quite good, although I think Mr Jenkins should update the name of the European common currency prior to the rapture to Euro rather than Deutsche Mark since the Mark is long gone now as Germany's currency. (I have read some European and British readers' reviews, and they don't seem to be particularly impressed with this aspect - thinking that this is another American writer who slacked off researching Europe and not getting the European common currency's name right. Of course they didn't realize LB was written in 1995, long before adoption of the Euro was decided and didn't know its prophetic significance)
YBIC,
Joel
