Read this...it sounds SO strange...I wonder if they will figure out what happened here? www.desmoinesregister.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20040515/NEWS01/405150356/1002Blood-spattered house mystifies elderly couple By TOM ALEX REGISTER STAFF WRITER 05/15/2004 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The cleaners came Friday to wash the blood out of Elmer and Viola Stacy's carpet. Now the rural Davenport couple hopes someone will tell them whose blood it was. "We are both in our 90s, and we are tired," Elmer said. "It was an exhaustive experience." Police called in bloodstain experts and specially trained dogs when they arrived at the Stacys' home Tuesday to find gore splattered in the kitchen and several other rooms, mostly on the floors and low on the walls. So far, all they can tell is that the blood is human, and that it "was almost all over the house," Scott County Sheriff's Capt. Mike Brown said. "It looked bad. It makes you take a step back and say, 'Whoa, what happened?' " Elmer and Viola say they are fine. They apparently were home when the mess was made. Brown said Elmer and Viola were checked by a doctor. Their DNA will be compared with the blood. The house was as tidy as before the mess was discovered. "It's just bizarre," Brown said. "We have a ton of questions." Rex Sparks, a bloodstain pattern analyst with the Des Moines Police Department, went to Scott County to help with the investigation. The couple stayed next door with a daughter in the interim. Authorities wonder if someone injured in a traffic or a hunting accident wandered into the home. If so, Elmer and Viola heard nothing. Cadaver dogs and their handlers came up empty in the surrounding area. The barricades that blocked access to the house, near Interstate Highway 280 and U.S. Highway 61, are gone now. But the questions remain. "We're back in our house," Elmer said. "But it's still a mystery."

Odd story Seem to have happend around 5/15, at least that was the date on the article. Did a search but I could not find a follow-up story. Ever notice how strange happenings seem to hit the news, then vanish, like they were never reported?

I was on the Left Behind Board, early, from about the time Soul Harvest came out as Lady1SK, Used that name since 1997, still use it on other boards but it seems more business like than personel (my family calls me Kathy). Miss the LB board, we had alot of good people on there (you included). I had read post so often I felt I knew most of the old timers. Didn't agree on every issue but loved the different views. One of my favorites was Whitestone, he came up with several ideas on how Daniel /Revelations would play out. The Duck usually had something funny or uplifting. LillyLamb (a real old timer) wonder what happend to her. Miss Whitt, Sir Wing Commander, emhousecall gave good advice, lots of others (a few on this board ). Always read alot more than I posted, as I do here. Pray, but seldom post to prayer request, I'm not real eloquent with phrasing words to adequately express my feelings. Also work rotating days, schedule makes it hard to be regular anywhere. So I pray for everyone and sign on when I can.

I am very intrigued by this story...I wonder what has become of it. It is really strange that this occurred while they were home, and yet no one knows HOW. The way they talked in the story, there was IMMENSE amounts of blood (not just a trail, as though someone had walked through, but it was EVERYWHERE). If you DO ever find a followup, definitely post it!

What an "odd" solution? Was she sleepwalking, and stopped bleeding by the time she returned to bed? www.charlotte.com/mld/charlotte/8688727.htm?1cPosted on Mon, May. 17, 2004
Police Solve Weird Blood Splatters Case
Associated Press
DAVENPORT, Iowa - Human blood found splattered throughout the home of an elderly couple came from the woman's leg, police said Monday.
Elmer and Viola Stacy, of Davenport, found the blood when they awakened May 11. It was splattered on the floor, furniture and lower walls in their kitchen and in several other rooms.
The couple called police, and investigators at first thought an animal got inside the house.
That was ruled out when an analysis showed it was human blood. Tests performed Monday determined the blood came from Viola Stacy and was caused by an arterial hemorrhage on a lower portion of her leg.
Scott County Sheriff's Capt. Mike Brown said Stacy, who is 90, didn't realize she was bleeding. He said the hemorrhage could have been as small as a pinhole but could have shot blood out at a forceful rate.
"She's elderly, and she most likely had been sleeping," Brown said.
The bleeding probably stopped as quickly as it started, Brown said. There were no blood stains around her bed, he said.
"When we arrived, she was not bleeding," Brown said. "That's why we couldn't figure it out."
Initial tests at a hospital did not turn up any injuries on Viola Stacy. But the blood stains were throughout the house, including in the kitchen, a living room and down a hallway.
Except for the blood, nothing was out of place, Brown said.
"It's a very nice, neat and tidy house. It was clean. Nothing was amiss and nothing was knocked over."
Brown said he spoke to other law enforcement officials who said they've encountered the same situation in the past.
"It's rare, but it's not unheard of," he said.
The sheriff's office enlisted the help of a bloodstain pattern expert from the Des Moines Police Department.
Brown said the couple, who stayed with a daughter for a few days, planned to return home. He said Viola Casey was under the observation of medical doctors.
"So far, she's doing good," Brown said.
A telephone call to the couple's house on Monday went unanswered.

Thank you for the update.
Still seems odd that Mrs. Stacy had no cut. I though there would need to be a break in the skin for blood to shoot out of her leg like that.
Makes you wonder, even more, if we are given all the facts. Are they hiding something?

Well, in older people, as this couple is 90ish, the skin is very thin and the arteries as well...so I understand how she could have bled with now "cut." But the part that really has me confused is that it was NOT on the bed...was all over the house, and she was sleeping when it happened...
Not completely unlikely that she was sleep walking and it happened, however, it seems odd that there isn't even any blood on the bed, or her clothes, or whatever...you'd think at least a bit of it would have crusted on her leg, or her foot, or the sheets, or SOMETHING...
But anyway, I just thought the story was odd when I first saw it, and I am not sure it is any "clearer" now! LOL

Wow, wierd story! Mook, however did you come across it?? emhousecall gave good advice, You know, I really miss him. I have to disagree, however, that his advice was good or that his theology was sound. Just the same, I wish he were back. Blessings, all! LJ

LOL when they said none on the bed and then read your post this popped to mind... she gets up, after walking a few feet the pressure forced out a small clot and blood shot out after?! i remember with my grandma how her skin would "shatter" - anyway the pressure pushing it out is what came to my mind. thanks for keeping this updated -- i was really curious!
