This was written shortly after the 9/11 tragedy for a very special brother who lost a believing loved one that fateful day. This is dedicated to that special brother, with the love of Christ...

Release and Receive
A desperate cry late in the night.
The silent teardrops fall.
The senseless violence permeates
A troubled, anguished soul.
Beside his bed on bended knee
With sorrow in his heart,
He shakes his fist and cries aloud
To Christ, who is his Fort.
His anger and his bitter rage
Just stream out from his lips.
He cries for vengance in the dark -
For justice to be met.
His human mind cannot begin
to comprehend events.
His thoughts just run together
In a tangled, jumbled mess.
He tells his God he cannot stand
Another restless night.
He does not have the strength he needs
To forge on with this fight.
He finally grows too weary
To cry against his God.
His heart is broken, rage is spent,
And silence rules the dark.
At last he hears the still small voice
From deep within that prayer.
And now the tears that start to flow
Bring comfort to that man.
It's then he starts to understand that,
Yes, his God was there.
He held His children in His arms
And loved them to their end.
Those whom we love that have pkmtyolped on
Will never hurt again.
The terror and the fear they felt
Have since come to an end.
It dawned on him that in this life
We will have pain and grief.
But even more than that, he sees,
The love that is released.
As we entrust our hearts to Him
And give Him all our pain,
The anger slowly melts away,
Replaced with endless grace.
In amongst the roses
Are so many thorns to bear.
But if we watch with prayerful hearts
We'll find our God is there.
Christ helps us see that all these things
Must surely come to pkmtyolp.
For in this life, while we bear grief,
Our sorrows will not last.
We are to be His hands and feet
To share eternal truths.
That all of those who's ears will hear
May come to bear His fruit.
He's called them home and they will be
Forever in His love.
The rest of us must carry on
Until the work is done.
May He bless us, may He keep us.
May He hold us in His hand.
May He give us faith and wisdom
And the courage just to stand. Amen.
