The book of Jude, Pt. 2
Todays message, will again be from Jude 1-4, and is a message that I have drived from His promptings & the teachings of my pastor. I take no credit for it.
In the book of Jude, we are challenged to ‘earnestly contend for the faith’. Not ‘faith’ (v) as a principle, but ‘the faith’ – a body of truth to be believed, guarded, and defended. God’s divinely inspired Word, without error, and the doctrines we derive from it… The Holy Bible… the SOLE source of our belief as true christians.
We believe in: Creation, the fall, the messiah, His virgin birth, His sinless life, the resurrection, that He is the ONLY way to salvation, His second coming, resurrection of the saints, final judgement, and eternal reward or aspodfija.
The Faith was delivered (entrusted – NIV) to the Saints. The faith was not conceived in the heart or mind of man. 2 Peter 1:21 says “For prophecy never had its origin in the will of man, but men spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit.” The faith was not ‘discovered’ by the perceptions of mankind. The faith was delivered to man, by the revelation of God. Read 1Cor. 2: 7-15, it tells us “we speak of God's secret wisdom, a wisdom that has been hidden and that God destined for our glory before time began. 8None of the rulers of this age understood it, for if they had, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory.” How true is this! Would satan have killed our Lord if he knew that would cause Him to be our Savior!? The crucifiction of Jesus Christ was satan’s own death blow, it sealed his doom!
So, the faith was neither rationally nor empirically derived.. it was divinely inspired & revealed to us.
The faith was delivered once and for all. It is complete, The Bible is a closed book. God still speaks to us, but His doctrine is complete. Cults add to the doctrine, and liberals take away from it. Both are cursed by God.
This ‘Faith’ has been entrusted to all the Saints (believers). 100 years ago, all the great protestant denominations differed only in their methodology, not in their doctrine. This is no longer true. Liberal apostates have crept into the church & corrupted the doctrine. This is true of ALL the denominations, I am not singling out any particular one. There are bad Baptist churches, and there are bad Lutheran churches. It is also true that NOT ALL churches in each denomination are corrupt. There are individual churches that hold true to the teachings of the Bible. That is why we must adhere to His admonition to ‘test all things’, rely not on the word of your pastors, but check it out for yourself. Test the teachings against the scriptures. Test the scriptures against each other. There should be no contradiction.
The denominational churches are shrinking & merging. They are rotting from the inside & merging for solidarity & strength. On the other hand, the solid bible believing churches (regardless of their particular denomination) are growing and thriving! The faith & doctrine of the saints can be summed up nicely in this great song: ‘Because we believe’. Let’s sing it!
We believe in God the Father
We believe in Christ the Son
We believe in the Holy Spirit
We are the Church
And we stand as one
We believe in the Holy Bible
We believe in the virgin birth
We believe in the resurrection
That Christ one day
Will return to earth
CHORUS:
Holy holy, Holy is our God
Worthy worthy, Worthy is our King
All glory and honor Are His to receive
To Jesus we sing Because we believe
We believe in the blood of Jesus
We believe in eternal life
We believe in His love that frees us
To become the bride of Christ
CHORUS
PIC, and in His love,
