How can Christians walk through hard times without denying God and walking away? It's because we love God, and our relationship with Him means everything to us. I could lose everything in life, but I would still have all if I had God. He lives in my heart and communicates with me. And those times when I am sure of His presense are what gets me through the dry times when I can't feel Him at all.
I love Him. And that means praising Him when things go well, and praising Him when things go south. He is WORTHY simply because He IS. He doesn't have to DO anything for us in order to be worthy of praise.
I've been in the desert. I've walked through the valley of the shadow of death and felt totally alone. Sure, God gave me occational reminders that He knew of my plight, but I felt He was sitting on His hands doing nothing. I asked Him more than once what good it served for Him to know what was wrong and yet do nothing. And yet even in my questioning, I clung to Him. I knew that losing Him would be to lose everything.
I went to church each week, sang and prayed and tried to stay focused on Him. It's not easy, but it is how we grow.
So, to paraphrase President Kennedy - "Ask not what God can do for you, but what you can do for God."
He does not have to give us gifts to make Him worthy. He quite simply IS worthy and being in love with Him will keep us clinging to Him when the storm gets out of hand. We must make up our minds NOW that we will follow Him no matter what.
