I just found out today that my app as been pulled at my dad's work for a full time job where I'll be able to sit the whole time! ;D Something I need. Well, as many of you know, I just started my job at the bank Monday. If I get an interview and get hired (maybe sometime in Sept. or Oct.) I would have to decide if I could leave this one job and take the other. The job I have now is just a teller. But they are short on tellers and I'm helping out a lot by being there.
This other job, if offered to me, pays at least $2 more an hour, uses (vaguely) my degree, and needs experience in library stuff (which I have).
I don't want to quit one job just after starting a new one, if it comes to that. But the other job will be so much better for me. Oh the decisions.
Please keep me in prayer.

YSIC Lisa Well, I haven't even been called in for an interview for the one job yet so who knows if I'll have 2 jobs to choose between. But this could happen in the near future and I've got to be thinking about it.

Your in my prayers in this decision, should you need to make it. But a word from experience...if you DO have to CHOOSE...make sure you choose for the 'right' reasons for you. I left the "perfect" job (all around) for a job that paid more...and hated it. Make sure your motivations are things that MOTIVATE YOU.

I was sort of there recently. I worked at a job for 6 months, when my boss from the job before that changed jobs and asked me to come on. I did a lot of thinking and decided to join him. It's been almost 4 months and I haven't regretted the decision.
If you are offered the job and decide to take it, explain to your HR that a better opportunity came for you that allows you to do more of what your degree is for. Thank them for the learning experience (as short as it was) and give as much notice as you can, cooperating as best as you can in the transition. If they are good HR people, they will appreciate and respect your honesty and integrety. Who knows, the contact with them will help in networking in the future.

Thanks Flipper. A questions though. What is HR?
Also, this new job that is open and I could get an interview for doesn't use my degree. It is just required that the person filling the job have a BA (in anything). So I'm not really using my degree per say. Just the fact that I have one.

Thanks Flipper. A questions though. What is HR? Human Resources? A term, BTW, which I have always been disturbed by. It reminds me of slavery for some reason.

Human Resources? A term, BTW, which I have always been disturbed by. It reminds me of slavery for some reason. It does kind of sound like that. I have decided, if I get offered this other job, I will take it. But first I have to be called in for an interview and then offered the job.

Human Resources? A term, BTW, which I have always been disturbed by. It reminds me of slavery for some reason. I have to agree with you on that (btw, babysis - yes it is human resources). The term "office manager" is also disturbing to me. Shoot, any term remotely associated with management... Ok, maybe I'm the one with the problem. One thing I've noticed about law firm HR. Now that I've taken the cpkmtyolles (and got a degree in it) my original opinion that law firm HR personnel purposefully do the exact opposite of what they tell you to do in cpkmtyolles was correct. BTW, I don't use my BA at work either. It sits at home collecting dust (I hear the collective groans).

For some reason I thought I had prayed for all prayer requests last night. I do not know how I missed this . I do apologize babysis - I know you do not get offended but wanted to state it was not intentional (it was late when I was praying).
I know you listen to the Lord , so you will be blessed by his Word. Encouragement to you today. YSIC, Vada Psalms 32:8 I will instruct thee and teach thee in the way which thou shalt go: I will guide thee with mine eye.
