Calling all prayer warriors...
My son is contemplating going into the service(ARMY). He is 19 years old and going down the "wrong road" at 90 mph. This would be the best thing for him right now, even with all that is going on in the world. Please pray along with me that Nick will make the right choice and that he will give his life to the Lord. Thank you in advance for your prayers! Also, if anyone has any suggestions as to how I can "gently" help him make the right decision - I would welcome any pointers.
In Christ,
Perri

Dear Father,
I come to you right now for Perri's son Nick. Lord you know his plans as he is not headed in the right direction. But you oh Lord are the way maker and your Word says:
Jeremiah 29:11 For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.
So, I stand on the Word of God for this young man. Touch his heart Lord and turn it toward you as only you can draw. I will give you the thanks and the glory. In Jesus name i pray. amen. [/color] [glow=BLUE,2,300] [/glow]

Walk softly; "going down the wrong road at 90mph" tends to cause children to rebel against suggestions. Just be there to support him, and pray for you. The military does make people grow up, teach responsibility, maturity, etcetera.

am praying for you and for your son, that he makes the right, although Gods will be done, and that if he does join the army that he will STAY SAFE. Make sure that he doesn't get snowballed, he can get a good sign up bonus, a recruitment bonus if he signs up a buddy and special scholarships right now, as the service is DESPERATE for soldiers. Also, if there is a wait for him to leave, he should take some college courses at a community college, after he has 15 credits his pay grade will go up, significantly., and the ARMY should take care of the expense.... (my husband almost went in, but then thankfully the lord provided him with a job)

UPDATE: Nick will be going to New Orleans on Monday to be "processed". We will find out where he is going and when. Please give thanks to God on my behalf and pray that as a mom, I will be strong and not breakdown when my firstborn "leaves the nest"!!
Seriously - Thanks for everyone's thoughts and prayers!!

UPDATE to Nick's situation. He went to New Orleans on Monday to be sworn in and was informed that the Army has instituted a new policy. If you have a DWI, you must wait 1 year from the date of the offense before you can enlist. The Army recruiter jumped through hoops to help Nick and was not aware of the new policy. So now, my 19 year old son, who wants to make a "life change" has to wait because of some stupid "policy"! I'm really upset. One of the reasons that Nick wants to go into the Army is to get away from the life he has been leading and now he has to wait another 8 months. That is a long time for a young person. Please pray that Nick will be patient, and stay away from the "friends" that are not a good influence. Pray for me, that I would say the things to him that he needs to hear, and be a great example to him.
Are there any former or current military people who could comment on this "policy"? I don't understand it.
Thanks so much for your prayers!
In Christ,
Perri

Hi Perri, I have just seen your prayer request, I will keep you and your son in my prayers. My husband is currently in the military and I will ask him about the DUI rule. I have personally not heard of it. Was your son signed up and put on a deferment for 8 months or did they just send him home and told to come back in 8 months?
Gods Love, donna

They told him to come back in 8 months. We are so disapointed! Thank you for your reply - I was beginning to wonder if anyone was left here. I also really appreciate your prayers!
In Christ,
Perri

Hey Perri, I am so sorry for taking this long. I came back on to answer you yesterday morning, got busy answering another post and then forgot before getting off. I spoke with my husband about the new DUI rule. He said that the only thing that he could think of was to try to see if the recruiter could get a waver for the DUI. He doesn't know if the Army would grant one or not but it may be worth a try. If you ever want to talk please feel free to e-mail me anytime.
May God's will be done and may he bless you both. You and your son remain in my prayers, donna
