There is a thread I have here entitled "outreach event". The major details are on my church's website (link in my signature). From the home page, just go to the bottom of the page and click on Church In The Park.
Also see my thread here for additional details.
Thanks, Patty

My sister is in need of urgent prayer. She is 20 yrs. old,(yes she's 10 yrs. younger than me) Today her stepkids mom came out here and they had a confrontation. I called the police and that didn't even faze her. She was out there yelling like a crazy woman. Telling my sister to grow up and that she was jealous because my sister knew that she could get my sister's husband back from my sister etc. I believe she just came to provoke trouble. She does receive child support for one of the sons, and she has also filed a motion to get child support for the youngest. My bil is going to court to fill out the mandatory forms that they are requesting of him and missing work to do all this. I really felt there was no reason for her to stop over and ask for money since she already gets child support and has already filed to get more. I believe that she should wait til teh court decides. etc. My sister has two children, one 16 months and the other is 2 months. Actually the problems did not escalate until my sister got married in March. This woman of 29-30 yrs. also called the hospital when my sister was in labor with the first baby looking for her baby's daddy, she was told he was not there(and he wasnt' it was just my mom and sister) and she would not quit calling until my sister in the middle of her pain and labor told my mom not to worry about the phone, to just let it ring. I know that she is not a very good person. I knwo that she's into drugs. She has neglected her children, not sent them to school etc. She also dated my cousin who died 1.5 yrs. ago. His mother said she was filthy, my cousin used to pay two of his neices to come clean her apartment. When my cousin died, she ended up homeless and ended up with my bil, she had no other alternatives. So now that my sister and my bil have gotten married, she seems to enjoy coming between them. She is so boastful and arrogant that she can make him come running to her. I beleive my sister really loves him, because I had never seen her so hurt when they broke up. It was a struggle to see them fix things justs to have this person try to sabotage their marriage. This person never loved my bil and she also admitted to people that she did not love my cousin and that she took care of her responsiblities(meaning she got abortions). After my cousin died, she expressed "regret" that she had not gone through one of the pregnancies because she got no money, it all went to his kids. She even tried to steal a car from my uncles family the day we buried my cousin. My cousin had neo-pnemonia(sp) or something like that, someone came to see him at the hospital and brought him some drugs, and that is what killed him. She even tried to start something at the funeral with my cousins kids mom(I'll call her "Luz"). I know tht she was jealous because my uncle kept asking for Luz and not for her. He kept asking Luz questions like "you loved my son didn't you?" etc. I feel like she really need prayer also. But this is just a glimps e of what My sister is up against. I know that she has to built up the trust between her self and her husband, I know that it is too soon for her to completely trust her husband and feel that he won't cheat on her with his ex. There are 4 innocent children involved here, neither have asked for any of this. She also tried to get my mom involved, took her off to some place and had a shouting match with her enemies, stressing my mom out that she started to black out from fright. A couple of weeks later my mom had some kind of attack where she ended up at the hospital. since then, my mom goes through periods where she will call me using my old phone number, and then I will clarify things with her and she will call me at my current number for a couple of months, and than switch back to the other number. I know that when my mom came out today and learned about the commotion, that it affected her because she seemed to go weak and needed to sit down. Any suggestions would be welcome as to how I can help my sister, what should we do.

Hello, Welcome to the Prayer Warriors Group. We are 27 strong, represented by many different denominations and headed by Rev. Dean A. Smith (also known as Devil Disturber.) We are carried over from the last board and we meet on Thursday night at 9pm CST to pray as a group in agreement that through Jesus Christ all things are possible. We would like to pray for you, your family, friends, whomever needs prayer. If you want your request to be kept confidential - you do not have to give a reason for your request - God knows what you need. You may also e-mail me at mrclaire@webtv.net. I look forward to meeting with everyone before the throne of God in prayer. Thank you in advance for alowing us to pray for you. May God bless you and give you His peace and comfort. THIS THREAD IS SELF EXPLANATORY AND IS THE MAIN PRAYER THREAD. THESE FOLKS SPENT A LOT OF TIME, ENERGY AND PRAYER SETTING UP A 'SPECIAL' PLACE FOR PRAYERS. WE JUST HAVE NOT WORKED OUT THE KINKS IN OUR NEW BOARD SETUP YET. I AM POSTING TO PULL THIS PRAYER THREAD UP TO THE FIRST PAGE - SO IT IS MORE EASILY FOUND.

April 9, my husband was babysitting a 5-year-old boy named Daniel. Normally that was my responsibility, but it was a Wednesday, and I wasn't home because that is the day (during the school year) that I teach CEF Good News Club. My husband volunteered to stay home and do my babysitting on those days. Normally Daniel's 3-year-old brother Mark would also have been there, but his grandmother came and picked him up so it was only Daniel.
It was a nice day, so Jim thought it would be a good idea for Daniel to play outside. So while Daniel played, Jim sat on the porch swing and watched him; he couldn't interact with him much because he's disabled and doesn't get around well anymore. Well, as little boys will do, Daniel was constantly either thirsty or had to go potty, and it finally got to a point where Jim couldn't get up and down anymore. So this last time when Daniel had to go in the house again, Jim told him to just go ahead and use the bathroom and then come right back out, instead of going in there with him again.
Sometime later Jim realized that Daniel hadn't come back outside yet, and about the time he forced himself up out of the porch swing again, there was a muffled thump from inside the house. He figured either the cats had knocked something over, or Daniel was in to something he shouldn't be. Daniel met him at the door, jabbering something about the cat and blood. Daniel is speech-delayed, and very difficult to understand at times, though at other times he can be perfectly clear.
Behind him in the hallway, and partway into the living room, it looked like a major crime had taken place. It turned out that instead of going potty and getting his drink of water, Daniel had gone into our bedroom and was looking through everything. He found my husband's shotgun, which we kept loaded with one in the chamber, and which had been so well hidden our own daughter never even knew we had it, and dragged it out into the open. He disabled the safety lock and drew down point-blank on my favorite cat, who was sleeping next to one of our other cats on a pile of dirty laundry next to my side of the bed. He pulled the trigger, and Callie splattered all over three different rooms - our room, the hallway, and into the living room.
Then he had the presence of mind to put the shotgun back where he had found it. We realize it was God's hand of protection that kept him from shooting himself. How he got from our bedroom, through the hallway, and into the living room without getting any of that blood anywhere on himself is beyond us both.
The only thing Daniel wanted to know was if my husband was going to shoot him next time he saw him walking down the street with his other babysitter, a friend of ours (I thought) from church. So Jim knelt down and prayed with him, then popped a tape into the VCR so Daniel would be occupied while he cleaned up the mess. He did NOT want me to have to see any of it, or our daughter who was at school at the time.
So he buried what was left of Callie, then cleaned up the rest of the mess, put the rags into a trash bag, and took the whole thing outside to the trash can. As soon as our daughter got home from school, he left Daniel with her, and took the shotgun down to the pawn shop and got rid of it. I came home while he was gone, and sat down at the computer to log on to the LBMB. My daughter, who didn't yet know what had happened, was outside with Daniel.
Daniel's mother picked him up, and soon after that, my husband came home. He stopped outside to tell our daughter what had happened, then came inside and told me. I went completely hysterical for about an hour, I think, and when he finally managed to calm me down, I made him tell me where Callie was buried. Then I went outside and sat on top of her grave for about another hour, bawling my head off.
When I finally came back in, I called Daniel's mother to let her know what had happened. She was shocked, but was okay with it. I was not okay with it at all - so I did what seemed natural to me. I posted a prayer request on the MB, and while most of my brothers and sisters were supportive, a few blasted me completely for daring to have a gun to begin with, and for babysitting while I had a gun. Never mind that the gun was my husband's, not mine - or that I wasn't even home when it happened.
The following morning, Daniel's mother brought both boys over to our house before she went on to work. Daniel spent mornings at pre-school at the Presbyterian church in the next block up from our house, so on the walk over there I asked him if he understood what he'd done the day before. He said yeah, I shot the cat. I asked him if he understood the cat wasn't coming back, and he said yeah, it's in heaven. I knew he was going to be jabbering about the incident at pre-school, so I felt I needed to clue his teacher in.
I probably should mention that I worked at this pre-school for two years, and had quit only to stay home and take care of Daniel and Mark. The rest of the people who worked there were still the same ones I worked with, and I considered them not only my sisters in Christ, but also my friends.
I also thought I should tell the director what had happened, because she is Daniel and Mark's alternate babysitter. She didn't say much, but Daniel's teacher went ballistic on me and wouldn't allow me to even tell the whole story. She acted like it was all my personal fault - again, I wasn't even THERE at the time!
Two days later the police came to our house. Now, we live in a very small town, and know all of the police by their first names. Due to my husband being a respected business man (he owns a locksmith business), we have good repoir with the police; they consider us "family" and one even calls us his "kids." I asked them how they had heard about this, and one of them said it was because I was blabbing it all over town. I explained to them that I had told Daniel's mother (who did NOT call the police!) and two other people, and that was it.
It turns out that the two former colleagues of mine that I told, then took it upon themselves to tell everybody else who worked there, and those people in turn went home and told their families, who in turn pkmtyolped it on to other people. Every single one of these women I had worked with phoned it in as separate anonymous complaints - all totaled, according to the police, 15 separate complaints. Not only that, but it had happened on a day when my daughter had youth group that night; a woman on the youth staff overheard her telling the youth pastor about it, called me to see if it was true, then turned right around and phoned a complaint in to the police.
The police said the way we had the gun stored was perfectly legal, and that they were going to recommend that no further action needed to be taken. However, since it was a firearms discharge within city limits, they had to turn a report in to the District Attorney. They could not guarantee what the D.A. would or wouldn't do with the matter.
Well, we didn't hear anything else until about three weeks ago, now. Jim got a letter from the District Attorney's office, informing him that he has been charged in court with Reckless Endangerment of Another Person. He has to appear at the County Courthouse this Wednesday (the 23rd) for arraignment, at which time there will be a formal reading of the charges, my husband will enter his plea (not guilty), a trial date will be set, and a Public Defender will have to be appointed because we simply do not have the money for a private attorney. I wish that we did.
I do not know what will happen from that point, but I know some things that COULD happen. If he is convicted, it will put him out of business; as a locksmith he has to be bonded, and with a criminal conviction on his record, he cannot get the bond. It will forever ruin or chances of adopting the little girl from Guatemala we are waiting for - or any other child, for that matter. If he has to do more than 30 days, he could lose his VA benefits - and if that happens, we will lose our home because those benefits are what pays the mortgage.
My husband's health is such that any jail time at all would probably cause his death. Community service is not a viable option for the same reason. If a fine is imposed, paying it will be a terrible hardship - if we're lucky, the County will accept payments. Of course we're praying for a complete acquittal, but in the event of a conviction, probation is the best option.
With his physical problems and now this added stress combined, Jim is spending most of his time sleeping, and there are days I almost feel like I'm single. I am also not handling this as well as I may appear to be; no wonder keeping my blood pressure under control has been such a problem the past couple of months!
But probably the worst thing has been, ever since the day my husband got that letter from the D.A., our daughter has been having nightmares. Sometimes they involve one of our cats dripping blood all over her, and sometimes they involve cougars or bears coming after her father and/or me. (It doesn't help that as of last week, we've got a rogue cougar roaming through the town at night, and that it has grabbed at least two pets off people's front porches.)

I was married at the age of 18, never went on any form of birth control, had a few miscarriages, all I wanted was 2 children too, like you a boy and a girl. I had given up hope but at the age of 29 I gave birth to my son and 16 months later my daughter, yes God is AWESOME!
My prayers are with you all!
