Why is it considered acceptable for you to attack us men with the "Male FAQ" thread, and yet it's "OK" for you moderators to lock the "Christians: Straight to Heaven or Oherwise?" thread?
Please explain.
Christian.

Please explain. Christian. That thread turned into a bash the moderator thread. When I have time to fix it, then I can unlock it. My niece and the children were abandoned by her husband. Left with no money and past due rent, they are being evicted from their townhouse. I am in the process of moving them in with me. That is consuming a great deal of time right now. ronda

So has the male bashing finished? If one bothers to read the entire thread, one sees the guys are also putting in gal jokes. Ronda

If one bothers to read the entire thread, one sees the guys are also putting in gal jokes. Ronda Ronda, I have a female friend who was not impressed with your sexist jokes either. And neither of us approves of the guys' jokes. Are these jokes acceptable to Christ? Don't forget, He's also a man, as well as God. Christian.

You know, Ronda, my mother would have approved of your jokes. She wasn't a Christian, and she hated men. In fact, she seemed to hate just about everyone on this planet. You see, people kept letting her down in life: her dad used to beat her with a leather belt that had a heavy metal buckle on it. My father used to beat her up regularly after he'd had a few drinks - he used to be in the army, and was good with his fists, and he threw darts at her. My stepdad was a weak man, and was unfaithful to her. And the boyfriends she had weren't any better. She became very bitter towards people, especially men. She died, not knowing God. Christian.

And because of all that ***, I have struggled with the idea of being positive about my male identity. Not surprising, eh? Oh, and then I came across your charming little thread about men....... Christian.

TRUE! TRUE! Brother Christian. I said it from the start. These sorts of jokes are just plain wrong. I don't care if it's demeaning men or women. I said it in my first post under the "Male FAQ" thread ...
I believe it's wrong to demean other people. Just because some guys joined in and posted demeaning "jokes" about women doesn't make any of it right.
What's next? Are you folks gonna start telling Black jokes? How about Jewish jokes? I hear tell there's one Jewish guy in particular you all claim to be good friends with who might be offended by a few of those.

wow, coming in really late in the game but just from what i gather in this thread those were either extreemly offensive jokes or some just can't laugh at themselves.
i am polish - i've heard just about every polish joke in the book and you know what - most ARE funny. jokes are just that a joke, something to laugh about. unless they are meant in an offensive manner, they should not be taken as such.
for example...
a pollack (which by the way was a term of enderament from the 1800's and prior) walks into his optomotrist office for an eye test. the doc shows him the eye chart and asks him what the bottom line says:
C X Z Y W E N S T C Y K
The guy looks at the doc and the doc questions - well can you read it. The pollack replies - read it, that's my neighbor.
I think, from a blind point of view, not having seen the thread in question, that sometimes we have to lighten up and learn to laugh a little at ourselves.

Marysia, I think you need to read the whole "Male FAQ" thread, and honestly ask yourself, "Does this demean men and women, or encourage a positive, Christian, attitude towards them?" Yes, the polish joke that you shared is funny, in my opinion and yours, but I do think there's a difference between people telling jokes about their own kind, and people telling jokes about the opposite gender, or an ethnic group, or other nationality and/or religious group that has different beliefs to their own. 1 Corinthians, chapter 13, comes to mind. Christian.
