www.drudgereport.com/dnc55.htmXXXXX DRUDGE REPORT XXXXX TUE SEPT 28, 2004 09:23:25 ET XXXXX KERRY ON ORANGE ALERT: SKIN TRANSITION ON EVE OF DEBATE Just days before Dem presidential hopeful John Kerry is set to take the stage in a debate opener projected to be seen by 70 million, photos show the senator dramatically taking on color. Is it the late September Wisconsin sun during debate prep that has turned Kerry's face to rich pumpkin-colored hues? Or has he been campaigning in the rust-belt? Kerry advisers defend the sudden deep tan transition, noting how it simply was from a game of flag football last Friday in Bedford, pkmtyolm. But the College Democrats who met Kerry were surprised by his rich tan glow -- before the game even began, the HARVARD CRIMSON reports.

Well I think it's silly to get worked up over this ridiculous skin color change. Word on the street is that he got the "man tan" to cover the redness caused by his botox injections which he got in order to keep his face from sweating during the debates. The man tan and the redness will be mostly gone by tomorrow night and he'll look cool, calm and collected.
I don't see this behavior as being one bit different from that of most pampered "aristocrats." If you want to read into this behavior a certain disingenuousness on Kerry's part, I suppose you could. I sure do. Does that, in and of itself, mean he'll make a bad president? No, which is why I think it's silly to get worked up over it.
In my fantasy world, voters are really more concerned with what the candidates have to say on the issues and couldn't give a flip about sweaty upper lips or strange skin colors. Alas, the debate formats don't lend themselves to proper examination of the things that are really important to my world of fantasy voters.
Ah well.... Gotta love it anyway!
Blessings, LJ

I thought President Bush had a pretty savage tan as well. It's all part of modern day politics. Image goes a long way with the American public. A good healthy tan makes a person more attractive and likeable. Shoot, I hit a tanning bed every once in a while myself (got to look fine for my fiance! ) If you want reasons to vote against Kerry, we don't have to nitpick with his tanning practices. Just look at his voting record. He's even liberal for a liberal. He's one of the most liberal senators this country has ever seen. His voting record and values as a politician are completely inconsistent with the values of The Lord Jesus Christ. I can understand a Christian not being for Bush (if that's what their convictions are), but I'll never be able to understand how a Christian can support Kerry. I mean, this is a man that, if elected, wouldn't even put a ban on partial-birth abortion. Sorry, I just don't see how any Christian could support a politician that would give consent to allowing a baby to be taken half way out of the womb, then having a "doctor" (monster would be the term I would use) suck out its brains, all in the name of "Freedom of Choice."

Um, these guys were within spitting distance of South Beach, they couldn't show up and be the only ones without tans, could they?

I remember hearing an expression that might have been from a movie (not an exact quote)-
"If Abraham Lincoln had debated on television he never would have been elected."
Unfortunately, a tan matters to people, even if it is only a subliminal distinction.
BTW - I am not advocating either candidate here.
