Do coincidences happen, e.g: a chance meeting between two Christian friends - or is it untrue? Is it a God-incidence? And if coincidences don't happen, can they also be devil-incidences and human-incidences (without an agenda) I know of Christians who don't believe in co-incidences and I disagree with them. What do you folks out there think? Your Brother in Christ, Andy.

I agree with you Andy. I believe God places people, places and things in our life when we need them, no coincidence.
It seems at times we are confused to present events, but later when we look back, we can see God's hand in it, right?
Bless you! Lisa

Lisa agree!! kind of like when you look at cross stitch from the bottom - it's all jumbled with strings running every which way - starting stopping crossing - (at least mine do ) you can't tell from looking from the backside just what the big picture really is all about. however when all is said and done and you look from the top you see the "big picture". i read that once (it was longer and better written!) and thought - yup, that's about it. i have NO CLUE why some of the things in my life happen but know that when I pkmtyolp from this world and have my final reward all will be visible/known!

Yup no coincidense,I believe that evrything happens for a reason.I believe that God uses all things for specific reason although ,as was stated already,we may not know why or understand it when it does happen. We sometimes see it later on down the road.I have been trying to be more aware of these things. When ever ifind myself in a situation or meet a person.I try lool at it and ask myself what is or what was the reason for that.Sometimes i even pray about it,for God to reveal it to me.So that i don't miss something that i shouldn't have.

I think that it depends.
For example, take the lottery. Some people believe that God chooses the winners. Let us say that this is true. God has His hands in the lottery machine every weekend. Then, one day, God decides He does not want to choose any numbers. So, He decides to just watch for a change.
Do you not believe that numbers will still be drawn? And when they are, could they still possibly be someone's winning numbers?
Do not get me wrong. I do believe in miracles. But I only believe that miracles happen when someone ASKS God to intervene. Otherwise, I believe that He allows things to just unfold.
Numbers are a good example. Take, for example, the equation 2 + 2 = 4. No matter what happens, this equation is always true, right? No matter what happens, someone is going to win the lottery. No matter what happens, a Christian is going to meet a Christian.
I think it is just an odds game. Two Christians live on opposite sides of the country. Now, given 50 years ago, the chances that they would meet were slim. Now, with internet and other technology, it is not so slim. Realize that I said SLIM. That means that it was NOT IMPOSSIBLE. There is a chance that each of us will meet. God makes chances go up, but those chances were not impossible to begin with. There was still a chance, with or without divine intervention, that each of us would meet.
I hope this makes sense.
Later,
Arch.

Here's a story, a coincidence or Divine Providence? It may be a tad long but it does have a happy ending. There was a girl who was all set to move to Chicago and take a job which was what she went to college for. The girl had all her possessions packed but her mother was taken ill. She chose to be with her mother and put her career on hold. Unfortunately her mother pkmtyolped on.She took a job in a totally diferent field of expertise and at this job she met a man who was preparing to leave that same job which he really didn't want to be in because he felt a calling to be a police officer. She liked this man and did what she could do to help him to prepare for this new job. The two started dating and he was making strides in his new job when his mother took ill. Their feelings for each other were growing to this point. When she saw how he loved his mother and took care of his mother until her death, she knew this was who she wanted to be with. They married and had two beautiful children. When they thought everything was going their way he had suffered a heart attack, causing him to have to retire from the police dept. He became depressed and turned to GOD for answers as to why he was where he was in his life. After three years of retirement his questions were answered. His wife was taken ill with cancer. Some might think that this was another setback in the road of life, but they didn't they had put their trust in GOD. he now knew that what some perceived to be bad luck throughout their lives was seen to be blessings by them. If her mom had not taken ill she would've been in another state and never met the man and if he didn't have his heart attack and retire from the police force he wouldn't have been able to devote all his time to his wife's recovery. I believe with all my heart that GOD wanted these two to be together. And they believe that trusting in GOD will always be the way to live their lives whatever road they are led down. I thank GOD for everything that has happened in my life, every day that I have had and will have was and is a blessing. This was not a coincidence!!!!! and I'm happy to say that the couple was my wife and I and that also my wife is in remission thanks to GOD.

Actually, the word "coincidence" is made up of two parts. "Co" meaning two, and "incidence" meaning an event. So technically anytime two things happen in conjunction, it's a coincidence. Even if it's planned.

Coincidence: A sequence of events that although accidental seems to have been planned or arranged.
I don't believe that God makes everything happen. He could, but He doesn't. We have been given "free will", and if nothing happened freely it would not be free will.
What I believe happens is... God takes whatever happens, and uses it for good in one way or another. It doesn't matter if the event was put into action by God, us, or the devil. God finds useful stuff in the event, and uses it for good.
Romans 8:28: And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.

Is this a coincidence?
There are 26 Letters in the Alphabet.
Lets take the Letters, G and O and D
G is the 7th letter
O is the 15th letter
D is the 4th letter
Add 7+ 15 + 4 = 26
Could it be?
