It will be 3 years ago come October. A student on my campus was fatally stabbed in the head with a screwdriver. This happened in the course of a fight during a cpkmtyoll change.
The boy who stabbed him was given a 5 year sentence. What does this tell the kids in my school??? That if you murder someone, you won't do hard time.
The perp in this case brought the screwdriver to school for the fight. That should have made it pre-meditated.
It was alledged to be a gang related fight.
And the kid gets 5 yeas.......sheesh.....there is no justice for the child who was murdered.
Ronda Who is frustrated with the legal system.....

That's why some men murder their wives rather than divorce. He can get out of prison in 3-4 years for murdering his wife in a moment of pkmtyolpion, but alimony never ends

Try concentrating on God's justice instead of man's justice. That should bring you Peace.

I know that it is not for us to judge, only God knows what was in the young man's heart I know how hard it is NOT to get angry and judge people that do these types of things, especially when a child is hurt! And especially if that child is your's or you know him/her! But remember that God loves the child that did the stabbing as much as the child who was stabbed.... we are all HIS CHILDREN!

What's the the screw drivers? There was a boy (man actually) that graduate high school a year after I did and he (allegedly) killed his mother with a knife I believe and stabbed his father in the temple with a screwdriver. Praise the Lord that the screwdriver did little damage to the father.
Like the man in the OP who killed, this man also needs our praise. Last I heard he was still awaiting trial. It is sad indeed.

I know this is even sadder, but has your school district installed metal detectors?

That's why some men murder their wives rather than divorce. He can get out of prison in 3-4 years for murdering his wife in a moment of pkmtyolpion, but alimony never ends I think I'll jump on this comment quickly to try and keep some non-Christian nut case who may be in a divorce situation and reading this, from getting the wrong idea. Alimony (spousal support) in most jurisdictions is awarded, in part, on the basis of what the spouse receiving the support needs for him/her to become self-supporting. In community property jurisdictions, although I cannot speak with authority with respect to all of them, the court will be less likely to award a spouse alimony if he/she gets a reasonable amount of assets out of the settlement/award and is young enough to be self-supporting or get further training to do that. If, of course, you have a 65 year old woman who has a high school diploma at best, and who has never worked outside of the home, then you will likely find a court awarding long-term/permanent support, especially if the husband makes a good income or has lots of assets and revenue. Child maintenance is, of course, another issue.

Sad, very sad. I know this is even sadder, but has your school district installed metal detectors? They have hand held ones for searches. I think they need to be at EVERY entrance to the building. I am not naive enough to believe there aren't all sorts of weapons on that campus on any given day. Ronda

Maybe you should sponsor a fundraiser (or more) to raise money for that. They are so horribly expensive, one of the local courthouses had to close one of the entrances because they couldn't afford a metal detector for it.

That's awful! Kids are so violent these days. In my day, kids might get in a fist fight, now they bring weapons! The justice system seems to be a mess.and Kids aren't being taught any values at home. I feel sorry for both the kids involved.

I feel sorry for both the kids involved. You got the second part right. Kids aren't being taught any values at home, which is causing the justice system to be overloaded, which causes cases like this one to fall through the cracks.
