Just wanting to get the feel of what other Christians are thinking about this.
To be honest with you, my mom is thinking of trying it for her back problems. She is now getting "immune" to the painkillers she has been using for years. They just don't work anymore. And the others cause either significant and very undesirable side effects. Like extreme grouchiness, it affects her memory, she can't remember her phone number on one them, and she has had that number since I was in High School, and that was a long time ago. She turns herself into raw hamburger meat with codeine based ones. And morphine, please, that don't even work on the pain.
And the muscle relaxers will knock her into next year.
Mom works in the local hospital in admissions, and one lady who has cancer was telling her about what medical marijuana had done for her.

Medical marijuana has a federal ban and your mom can be prosecuted if she uses it. Found here: www.cnn.com/2005/LAW/06/06/scotus.medical.marijuana.ap/There are legal alternative holistic medicines which might be able to help your mom. Here's a list of natural herbal supplements which have been known to help deal with pain. Just make sure you do some good research on them before your mom starts taking them. healthyherbs.about.com/library/weekly/aa070801.htmHTH, [glow=green,3,300]Snotty ;D[/glow]

I've never understood marijuana to have any benefits beyond that of a painkiller, and a pretty inferior painkiller at that.

Back in the old days, LOL, the only thing it did for me was make me hungry....and laugh at absolutely everything.
They do have m. "pills" available with prescription. I know a girl that takes them....but honestly, she doesn't need them. She is just doing it so that if she gets picked up, she won't get in trouble for usuage...she can just say it's in her bloodstream b/c of her script....
Personally, I dont see how m. would ever help pain if it was for me....I am about useless on that stuff, LOL, I'm not kidding.....
BUT I have heard it does wonders for others..... *shrugs*

The stuff needs to be researched and regulated so dosages can be measured and people know what they are getting. The same goes for other herbal remedies. There is too much variability in the actual quantities of the active ingrediants.

I have no problem at all with Pot being used for medical reasons...It is a natural herb I do have a problem with people messing around with crap like homeopathy. Not only is it quackery, the "founder" of homeopathy had nothing but contempt for Christ....on that basis alone, Christians should avoid it While some herbal remedies appear to have some benefit, most have not done well in studies ... homeopathy has fared even worse......

Hahnemann (founder of Homeopathy) was offended by the life of Jesus Christ. He mocks Jesus Christ, calling Him "the arch-enthusiast" His biographers write -- He took offense at the arch-enthusiast Jesus of Nazareth, who did not lead the enlightened on the straight way to wisdom but who wanted to struggle with publicans and sinners on a difficult path toward the establishment of the kingdom of God. . . . The man of sorrows who took the darkness of the world on Himself was an offense to the lover of etheric [highly refined, heavenly] wisdom" [Hahnemann].8 (8.
