Personally I don't think it's right to take life unless I really have to in order to defend myself or my country.

i agree on the war time however -- that can actually open a lot of doors. when my busia was at the end of her life, she was not placed on any life upport. this was her wish. as her mental state did not allow her to converse, we had to speak out to withhold treatment - did we kill her? my grandfather was similar - we had to decide to pull the plug - did we kill him? i believe i know where this question stems from but.... in my will i have a do not recussitate and no machines clause - am i killing myself?!

Marysia,
The scary thing about all this Terri Schiavo business is that no one actually knows how she feels about the decision that has been made to starve her to death. Often when someone is terminally ill, and in great pain, they will be given morphine, and then greater doses of it - over time - to ensure that they don't end up in great distress. This leads eventually to an over-dose which hastens their death. I have no problem with that, as the primary purpose is to relieve suffering and not to kill, unlike euthanasia which is surely murder. If you were Terri, could you be certain that you'd want to be starved?
Andy.

Marysia, If you were Terri, could you be certain that you'd want to be starved? Andy. actually andy -- i will never be in Terri's situation as its in my will that it can not happen. it's also ben discussed with my parents, brothers, sisters, cousin and older nephews. you talk of starving like it's the same thing that we feel when we are hungry. read the doctor's and hospice reports, it is not.

I had trouble fitting my vote into the poll
I believe that the death penalty is completely biblical
Taking life in war has never been considered murder...it is a necessary evil to take life in war (not innocent lives however...if it can be avoided)
Abortion...wrong
When there is no clear-cut answer known, as in the Shiavo case, the default should be life (Don't forget, the "husband", and (I use that term with some degree of sarcasm), had originally signed a paper saying that he didn't know Terri's wishes; only later on, did he suddenly decide he knew what her wishes were).
God bless

Why of course it is. that is why we have elected such very devout men such as Raygun and Bush. Bush even likes to send our young men over to foreign areas and get them to sacrifice their lives for him. Bush is a great man. Don't ever come to our board and say otherwise or we will snuff you out.

Do you believe that some wars are just and others are unjust, or are you a pacifist? I think self defense is justified but "preemptive" attack no. On the medical side we need to make a distinction between letting die and actively killing.
