I decided to start this thread because I was wondering how scientists hope to come up with a "theory of everything", and yet ignore the One who created it all in the first place? That doesn't make any sense to me because everything that is known about has a beginning and has been created by something else, according to the law of "cause and effect". And the universe didn't create itself, therefore it must be the case that all things were deliberately created by something or someone else, e.g. God who isn't subject to the constraints of conventional scientific thinking. In the beginning He said "Let there be...", otherwise we wouldn't exist! And He has always existed.

"Childe Roland to the Dark Tower Came"
My first thought was, he lied in every word, That hoary cripple, with malicious eye Askance to watch the working of his lie On mine, and mouth scarce able to afford Suppression of the glee that pursed and scored Its edge, at one more victim gained thereby.
What else should he be set for, with his staff? What, save to waylay with his lies, ensnare All travellers who might find him posted there, And ask the road? I guessed what skull-like laugh Would break, what crutch 'gin write my epitaph For pastime in the dusty thoroughfare,
If at his counsel I should turn aside Into that ominous tract which, all agree, Hides the Dark Tower. Yet acquiescingly I did turn as he pointed: neither pride Nor hope rekindling at the end descried, So much as gladness that some end might be.
For, what with my whole world-wide wandering, What with my search drawn out thro' years, my hope Dwindled into a ghost not fit to cope With that obstreperous joy success would bring, I hardly tried now to rebuke the spring My heart made, finding failure in its scope.
As when a sick man very near to death Seems dead indeed, and feels begin and end The tears and takes the farewell of each friend, And hears one bid the other go, draw breath Freelier outside ("since all is o'er," he saith, "And the blow fallen no grieving can amend;")

And more than that - a furlong on - why, there! What bad use was that engine for, that wheel, Or brake, not wheel - that harrow fit to reel Men's bodies out like silk? with all the air Of Tophet's tool, on earth left unaware, Or brought to sharpen its rusty teeth of steel.

A theory of God would be a theology. Theology is a rational attempt to understand God and God's relationship to the created universe. The problem is that God transcends the limts of our rational mind and thinking. Even among those who believe in God there is a vast difference of understanding and belief about who God is and How God related to the universe we expereince. Don't expect scientists to break any new ground in theology. They are limited to what they can (theoretically) observe, measure and figure out.

The point is this: You will only get to know the one true and living God the moment you start to earnestly seek Him by reading the Bible, praying to Him and going to Church. You need to hand over your life to Him by acknowledging that His Son Jesus Christ was crucified for you because of your sins, and was resurrected back to life 3 days later. Believing you are God won't save you when the time comes for you to meet your Maker, but putting your faith in Him and what He has done for you will save you.

Believing you are God won't save you when the time comes for you to meet your Maker, but putting your faith in Him and what He has done for you will save you. I do not think we are required to believe that God created us from nothing. Even the Bible speaks of "earth" and "breath". It is as if God lends us part of his own life and being so we can exist. We are certainly created from the power of his will and though at least. So even as we are separate distinct individuals so also are we part of God, like branches to a vine, in Jesus words. We need to recognize and realize that unity. And I am looking for much more than salvation. That is a minimalist approach. Being "saved" is only a starting point. God wants us to be totally transformed in spirit and fully mature.

We are certainly created from the power of his will and though at least. So even as we are separate distinct individuals so also are we part of God, like branches to a vine, in Jesus words. We need to recognize and realize that unity. And I am looking for much more than salvation. That is a minimalist approach. Being "saved" is only a starting point. God wants us to be totally transformed in spirit and fully mature. Pietro, I agree with most of your points except for your belief that we are somehow parts of God, unless, of course, the "God particle" that the physicists are looking for turns out to exist and that is all God is.
