[quote author=heathen76 board=narrowdiscussion thread=1128704565 post=1130178446 Hi Shirl- I just survived my 3rd hurricane! Yay me! (Actually, it was pretty calm here other than some gusts and rain. I would have slept through the whole thing except for the power dip that woke me up. My fan stopped for half a second and that woke me) To the quote- Andy (and many others, I'd wager) believe in the "Superman" version of God. The one where everything is under control and everything has a meaning behind it. Like how Andy was saying that Katrina was possibly a punishment to some. He believes that, if I were indeed God, then I should be able to wave my hand and end war and suffering around the world. He believes that's how it works. I hope all is well with you! [/quote] First of all, God is greater than Superman who doesn't even exist.
Secondly, I strongly believe that hurricane Katrina was a warning and a punishment from God.
Thirdly, if you are God, and hurricane Katrina wasn't a warning and judgement, why did you allow it to happen, killing many "innocent" people? You, as "God", had the power to prevent it. Why didn't you?
Perhaps you aren't really God at all. You only like to think you are. And since you don't believe that the Bible is God's written word to you, you don't know anything about God's way of doing things. You only know your own delusion.
God Bless, Andy.

I just about jump out of my skin whenever my cell phone goes off when I sleep - I am sure the smoke alarm was 100x worse! Of course, after running through all that trouble, I am sure you fell right back to sleep! Thanks for that! Of the three I've experienced, this was definitely the least troublesome. Of course, it helped that it didn't pkmtyolp directly over my house. The great thing about it is the beautiful weather it left in its wake. That cold front finally brought autumn to this neck of the woods, and this northerner is glad it's here. Have a great week, marysia! ;D

Let me ask you this, Andy. Do you purposely try to look like you don't understand what is being written, or do you actually not understand? If you are doing so purposefully because you think that it somehow casts a shadow of disingenuousness on my claims, then let me tell you it doesn't work. All it does is make you look like you don't understand what is being said. This has been a common complaint here from people that try to have discussions/debates with you. I'm just trying to understand from where it's coming. Care to elaborate?

So you now accept that you're not God, Heathen?

So you now accept that you're not God, Heathen? Tell ya what- I'll answer that question (again) when you answer mine. I know that you are fond of the "ask a question in response in hope of deflecting the original question" thing, but you're not going to get that by me. I've already answered your question before - you haven't answered mine.

hey heathen - was thinking about ya when it was saying tampa! it was a rough ride and not sure about you but think what bothers me most is the waiting game. i was on pins and needles for the 5 days not knowing where or when. glad it didn't hit ya'll again but sad it had to hit. i'm sure your yesterday was close to mine - coming into work - rainy, gray, dismal - icky! then about 3-4p there was blue sky's peaking out and this morning, while cold (and even for this northerner it was cold) and the brilliant blue sky and sun - beautiful. to me it was the "gift" from dealing with the nastiness of wilma!
have a lovely day!!!
PS - no matter how cold it get - no snow or ice scrapers : )

I tend not to worry about stuff anyways, but I don't even start to get interested until the probability cone has been narrowed down pretty far. When it's 5 days away, they REALLY have no idea where it's going. How long have you been in Jacksonville (my birthplace, btw)? You probably have become acclimated to the climate down here. This morning would seem cold if you are a true Floridian now. I'm sure next year will seem colder to me. I am in full agreement about the ice scraper! All you need here is a squeegie to get that morning dew off the windshield. No letting the car "warm up" for ten minutes either!

I know what you mean about the sunshine. By the end of last Christmas vacation, I was ready to get away from the dreary Ohio winter. Actually, we moved 2 weeks after I was born. We bounced from Ohio to Alabama back to Ohio. We lived in Ohio from about the time I was three years old onward. Since then I am not even sure if I've been to J-ville. Maybe when I was a baby or toddler - I'm not sure. I'm sure I'll get there before (if) I move away again.

We both grew up in Fairfield, OH (north of Cincinnati). Small world, eh?
