babysis, Should we be tolerant of sin? Should we have peace, even if it means compromising our beliefs? Does the World's love of ungodliness seriously compare with our Lord's love for the ungodly? Is it true Christian love? Aren't we Christians called to "love the sinner, but hate the sin"? What are the implications of that? God Bless, Andy.

Andy, it sounds like you posted a poll just so you could call into question anyone who didn't see the answer the same way you did. I hope that is not the case!
Babysis certainly did not say we should be tolerant of sin or compromise our beliefs. I suspect she believes that "Love, peace, tolerance and understanding" toward her fellow man will put her into a much better position to share her faith with an unbeliever. I know you've heard that trying to "scare" people to faith only turns them off and that if an unbelieving person knows that someone else cares about him/her enough to try to understand him/her, s/he will be more apt to hear what the believer has to say with an open mind.
Think back... how many people have you seen come to Christ because you scared them with the alternative?
Blessings, LJ

Blessings, LJ You're right, but the World's understanding of "love, peace and tolerance..." is often at odds with what the Word of God says. We're considered to not be peace loving, to be intolerant, and lacking love and understanding towards others when we speak out against the World's treatment of the Jews, and the practice of abortion etc, etc. God Bless, Andy

Andy, The option in the poll did not say "tolerance of sin". If it had, I would not have chose that option. I think we should be most tolerant of a lot of things. I must ask though, how are we to not be tolerant of sin, what actions are we to take? I'm just curious as to how you define not being tolerant of sin as opposed to how I define it.

Jesus Christ, His Love, and His Word are already here, right?
What is missing is Love, peace, tolerance, understanding.

You're right, but the World's understanding of "love, peace and tolerance..." is often at odds with what the Word of God says. Then shouldn't you be more specific about what you're fishing for in your poll? LOL, of the things I think Christians are perceived as not being "tolerant" of, or "peace loving" about, those two are about the last on my list! Isn't it interesting how two believers can have such different perceptions? Blessings, LJ

Laura,
I kept the "love, peace, tolerance, understanding" voting option separate from "Jesus Christ, His Love, and His Word" for good reason. Why? Well I'll give you two examples:
A Christian told me that your President, George W. Bush, ordered the military invasion of Iraq, because God told him to. Yet many muslims believe he was wrong to do so. And he violated international law. Also, he has threatened North Korea and Iran.
Your government has been involved in the drafting of the "road map" of peace for the Middle-East, part of which clearly includes forcing Jewish settlers to leave a part of the land that God has given them, e.g. the former settlers of Gaza.
Is this the kind of behaviour you'd expect from a "godly" man of peace? Or does he believe in "peace, whatever the cost"?
God Bless, Andy.

Laura,
Do you believe Christians should be tolerant of abortion, and consider it to be a loving act towards the mother and her "unwanted" child?
Andy.

Jesus Christ, His Love, and His Word are already here, right? What is missing is Love, peace, tolerance, understanding. Pietro, Godly love is peace, tolerance and understanding in their proper context. We are not called by God to be tolerant of sin, which has the power to send unrepentant and unbelieving men and women to Hell. We are called to live in peace with our neighbours, but that does not mean we compromise our Christian values with those of the World. That would be an ungodly peace. We need to understand that the world is a sinful place, and not embrace the sin, yet embrace the sinner with the love of our Lord Jesus Christ. We are called by His Father to preach the gospel in His love, and in so doing convict the sinner of his need of His divine forgiveness through Christ, and what He went through on the cross for our sakes. God Bless, Andy.

Andy,
Don't get all miffed if you weren't specific in your poll and people chose answered based on their understanding of the choices and not yours. We aren't mind readers.
Just tuck this information away for the next time you are creating a poll.
