I love the fact that beth speaks negatively of the same "liberal nonsense" that allows her to post here and worship as she pleases. The Founding Fathers of this country WERE liberals in the extreme. Conservatism is the mindset of fear. It is apparent in the politics of today. YES!!! Liberals, pagens and....*gasp* heathens too!! LOL!! How the heck are you!! It's been a long time!!

Doing fine, Panther! I hope all is well with you. I've been busy lately (working on a PhD, so not much time anymore for posting), but having fun and learning alot. In fact, I have to go do a little bit of work right now in preparation for tomorrow. I'll see ya around!

. You strike me as one of those people who can't handle the tough stuff. I have to step in here for a second... Anyone who says Babysis can't handle the tough stuff doesn't know her very well. I've never seen her back down from defending herself or from defending someone else who is under attack. The difference is that she's an absolute lady about it. Clearly, neither is being ugly and abusive getting the job done. Then maybe it's your soul that needs examination? Beth, how about you be the bigger person and take your own advice? Really? Where?? Darn, I missed it! I've been waiting for YEARS for Traf to snap and go off message to an ad hominem attack but I haven't seen it. Please, please, please give me the link so I can satisfy my misanthropic curiosity! On a different note, HI, SHIRLEY!! Glad to see you here! Peace, LJ

Back to the OT.... ....isn't there something wrong with a position when dissent is not only discouraged, but outright silenced? If the fundies over there really have it right, if their brand of Christianity is the One True Faith (TM), shouldn't it be solid enough to withstand a single question? What is any group of Christians becoming when they tell a brother or sister "You are not welcome here? I'm with you on this, Traf. I get so disappointed when people either silence differing opinions or attack the person, when the real way to "win" an argument is to stick to the topic and offer better evidence. No one will ever change anyone's mind when their only response to a comment is "You're wrong" or "You're a jerk." I keep hoping someone will come with evidence to prove you wrong, ;-) but it hasn't happened yet. Blessings! LJ

A person cannot and may not pick and choose what part of the Bible and Gods Word they want to believe or not believe, its the whole enchilada or nada. Oh, good, that's cleared up. Then you believe that Baptism is a means of grace, that it's efficacious, (not merely symbolic or an act of obedience) and that the bread and wine of communion are actually Jesus's body and blood, and that receiving it when believing otherwise is harmful for your soul. Glad we got that straight! Blessings, LJ

P.S., To all, don't bother to pick up that last conversational thread. I just threw it in there to demonstrate that those who claim to believe the entire Bible literally usually don't.
Peace, LJ

We won't win by talking down to people or treating Middle America with disdain. Glad you recognize this. Hopefully your party leaders will take a lesson from your wisdom. Conservatives have the same goals; we just believe they are best accomplished in ways that differ from what liberals think will work. Blessings, LJ

I've been good! Spend most of my free time babysitting my granddaughter..how are you? I'm good too! I laugh at myself every summer because I look forward to the "slower pace" at the end of the school year (my kids are 8 and 10) but it never seems to come. Between camps, visitors and vacations we're running around like chickens sans heads. Just got back from an awesome week in South Dakota. Managed to squeeze in the Corn Palace, Wall Drug, the Badlands, the Black Hills, Mt. Rushmore, Crazyhorse, Deadwood, Custer State Park, a rodeo, and some awesome trout fishing and horseback riding. Whew! I need a vacation! Smooch that grandbaby for me! LJ

All,
It amazes me how people are criticizing Beth for posting some uncomfortable home-truths on this thread, yet don't seem to have a problem with Traffic Demon insisting that only those whom he regards as understanding evolution are entitled to air their views here.
Traffic, I don't regard God as being a liar, and therefore regard Genesis 1-11 as being historically true. Yes, I accept that there is such a thing as "figurative truth", but the inappropriate use of the term is unacceptable, and ultimately truth is literal, whether spiritual or physical.
Also, I believe in microevolution which occurs within species, but not macroevolution which occurs beyond species.
Beth, I do think that you could be a little less severe with the way you put things across to people.
God Bless, Andy.
