Funny how some people are prepared to accept any supposed "miracle" as being a sign from the Almighty.......

But, wait, what about HEB 2:3b This salvation, which was first announced by the Lord, was confirmed to us by those who heard him. 4 God also testified to it by signs, wonders and various miracles, and gifts of the Holy Spirit distributed according to his will.
Hmmm. Isn't the Writer saying God uses miracles to point to salvation, to point to His greatness?
Peace, LJ

hi LJ - funny how some people can easily discount something such as the above story as being nothing short of a miracle. our parish suffered a fire in the attic area of the rectory, the only thing that survived was a very old embroidered cloth of Mary - the cloth around her was singed, but the depiction was not harmed what so ever.
i believe that God is truly trying to get our attention through various methods - even these hurricanes that keep ravaging Florida. there were more people coming to daily pkmtyolm and you heard more and more people praying. i truly believe that without out all the prayers that were going out to God, francis would have stayed a cat. 4.
throughout the bible there are sotries of signs, miracles - things that made people stop and think. many would still not listen and when that would happen great catasthropies would occur. when even that wouldn't wake people up - He sent us His Son. Fortunately, through His Word and families raising their children as in the way the should go - there are many who still know and love Jesus. Unfortunately, there are many who did not.
God choose Mary to bear His most glorious and fulfilling sign, funny that He might not opt to use Her again - even if only her likeness to open people's minds.
God bless & love you for all you do and are!!!

Actually what was "miraculous" was that no one was hurt. The proximity of the rectory where the priest and his young family live was probably no more than 20-25 feet!! In addition, the woman that cleans the church was running late, and was in the parking lot when it went up. Also, a highway entrance ramp is nearby, and there was no debris dispersion.

God bless & love you for all you do and are!!! How can you suggest that God uses Mary's "likeness" to open people's minds? Is it not the case that: "You shall not make for yourself an idol in the form of anything in heaven above or on the earth beneath or in the waters below. You shall not bow down to them or worship them; for I, the Lord your God, am a jealous God, punishing the children for the sin of the fathers to the third and fourth generation of those who hate me, but showing love to thousands who love me and keep my commandments." - book of Exodus, ch.20, vv.4-6 It is Satan's desire that peoples' minds should be focused on images of Mary. Christian.

Marysia, I am mighty relieved to hear that I haven't been discussing, debating, arguing, etc with a cow that has evolved the ability to communicate in human language! I posted the pkmtyolpage from Exodus because I know that most, if not all, catholic churches have a statue of Mary. The pkmtyolpage does appear to suggest that this is not good. BTW I'm not saying that you don't love the Lord, just that believers should have their minds focused solely on God when they are worshipping Him. Christian.

Marysia, I am mighty relieved to hear that I haven't been discussing, debating, arguing, etc with a cow that has evolved the ability to communicate in human language! hee hee hee I posted the pkmtyolpage from Exodus because I know that most, if not all, catholic churches have a statue of Mary. The pkmtyolpage does appear to suggest that this is not good. BTW I'm not saying that you don't love the Lord, just that believers should have their minds focused solely on God when they are worshipping Him. you commented that it's satanic to focus on an image of Mary and that, i'm sorry is assanine. those that place Mary higher than God Himself, IMO are wrong. as a woman I regards Mary as a great role model - she was human, the first Chirstian, a woman who dedicated her life to God and was the mother of my Saviour. i called my best friends mom, mom growing up and then there were the almost mother-in -laws. Christ is my Saviour, my best friend, confidant and deepest love - any and all - especially His mother will always have a high place of honour in my life. BTW, there are also pkmtyolpages that tell of creating objects to gaze upon or adorn. i have pictures of my family - dead and alive - throughout my home - it's not worship. Christian. UGH - just chewed! in reading more about bowing down before them & worshiping them - when i read that i think back to those that would create a gold figurine and think the actual figurine could do something. those that made gods. i have a crucifix in my home - it's nothing but a rememberance & family heirloom - Christ is in my heart, head and actions. it's the warmth of rememberance, seeing reminders of people i love and who love me that makes my house a home. i'm sorry your can differentiate between the two.
