...if you believe the tennents of Christianity, then you must believe that Kurt appears to be headed for Hell. This is acceptable to you? I most certainly believe in Christianity. I also agree that Kurt appears to be heading for Hell. Is this acceptable to me? No. However, I can still accept that he believes something different than I do; this doesn't mean I have to like it though. I can tell him what I feel to be true, but in doing so I can't make him change his mind any more than he is going to change my mind by telling me about Transcendentalism. I can also pray for him. ;D I am relatively new to practicing Christianity, although I've been a believer all of my life. (I just didn't put my knowledge to use or even try to live a Christ-like life.) During my years away from church (about 25 years) one of the things that kept me away from church were the "in-your-face-Christians." The person that made me seek church and a close relationship with Christ did so through her actions; by being highly involved in bible study and charitable organizations within her church. She also never shied away from the subject of church, God, Jesus Christ or her beliefs. In other words, she behaved in a Christ-like manner. I agree that Kurt has some huge misconceptions about Christianity, especially when it comes to salvation. I'd be willing to bet, that like me, he was wounded or turned off by Christianity and/or judgemental people in the past. (I hope that doesn't come across sounding like I'm calling you judgemental, it was meant as a general statement.) I will also say that though I believe that the way to salvation is through Jesus Christ, it wouldn't surprise me to find out God has an even greater plan that encompkmtyolpes even more; though I wouldn't bet my salvation on it. Peace and God's Love, Melinda

I would no sooner turn to the "gospel" of Thomas for spiritual truth and insight than I would turn to Clinton's "My Life" for historical truth and insight. LOL! Very Good Point. I glanced through some of those writings and found them interesting, but as you said, "ALL we need to know about Jesus is in the Bible." Melinda

By the way Kurt, have you read Lee Strobel's The Case for Christ or The Case for God? These books take many of the standard arguments against God or Christ and, as a rule, are able to show where these arguments don't stand up to scrutiny and facts.
Just wondering,
Melinda

Peace and God's Love, Melinda Hell is in a person's mind. I have God's assurance that upon my death, my soul will be with God. www.near-death.com/forum/nde/001/14.html On Jesus...I have 2 daughters who are Christians & I am very happy about that... & we often discuss the teachings of Jesus...& whether you believe it or not I highly respect the teachings of Jesus; these teachings of course are the ones before people canonized him & the Christian religion added their own interpretations. Jesus was a messenger of God & now is a part of God...oddly, since Adam was God's first creation...God's son...why are there no Adamians?....Jesus was made into God in order for the Catholic to bypkmtyolp the first Commandment so the church could claim that salvation can ONLY be through them, through Christianity...this is prejudicial & exclusive...it is wrong. God is a God for ALL. You are right, God has an even greater plan that encompkmtyolpes even more; & I AM pledging my soul on it. See www.earlychristianwritings.com/ and Namaste, Kurt

Kurt, The NDE site that your link sent me to is more than I have time to read right now. I skimmed over some of the site as well as your own story. What I read in your account isn't that far removed from my view of Heaven, but again I have to remind you that I was only able to skim over it. Also, if what you are proclaiming about it not mattering what religion a person is, then Christianity will certainly not hurt me and meanwhile it greatly enriches my life and hopefully those who I interact with. ;D Also, it appears you began your life as a Christian; did your experience or your father's reaction to it turn you against Christianity, or was it something else? Peace and God's Love, Melinda
